Poem for the Earth

For people who want to pass on the value of being environmentally friendly, Green Teacher is a good resource. In the most recent issue, I found the following lovely poem by Emily Dickinson:

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain.

A succint statement of how important and simple it is to help others.

Eco-tip: If you're invested in TIAA-CREF, send this letter to oppose their investments in Dow Chemical, which has still not cleaned up its act after a major gas explosion in Bhopal, India twenty years ago, and Chevron, which has poisoned communities in the Amazon, Nigeria, Angola, and Burma.
